Investigations series

Miles Edgeworth sat down in his office with a cup of tea, happy to relax after all the stress he had gone through in the past few days. Between being involved in several murder cases, and even temporarily losing his prosecutor's badge, the events he had gone through made him all the more grateful for the peace and quiet he had now been granted. He still had work to do, mainly paperwork for other cases he had dealt with, but for now, he was intent on enjoying the moment of calmness.

A moment that was abruptly brought to an end as he heard a knock on the door to his office. Edgeworth stared at the door for a moment, his cold, icy glare having no effect on the wooden object, before letting out a sigh. He set his teacup down on his desk, before getting up and opening the door. To his surprise, there was no one there. If not for the fact that this was the prosecutor's office, he might have suspected someone was playing a trick on him; a sort of "ding-dong-ditch", as it were. However, considering the level of maturity that most prosecutors possessed, that seemed unlikely, and Edgeworth instead opted to have a better look around to see where the knock on his door had come from.

It didn't take him long to find his first clue; a small parcel left on the ground on front of his office. Considering where it was, and the knock that had preceded its arrival, it hardly seemed like a coincidence. Despite the parcel being unlabelled, the evidence pointed to the fact that someone had left this parcel here for him.

"Hm, I wonder why they left it here instead of handing it to me in person," Edgeworth pondered aloud, closing the door to his office once more and taking the parcel back to his desk with him. Carefully opening it up, he found a small device inside, somewhat like a TV remote, accompanied by an instruction manual. After quickly reading through the manual, Edgeworth began to reevaluate his earlier assumption that this wasn't just a prank. A device that allowed people to swap bodies? Preposterous. Who would even think of something like this, and why choose him of all people to pull this trick on? The more he thought about it, though, the less this seemed like the sort of thing anyone at the office would do as a prank, and the more curious he grew about whether it would actually work or not.

Before he could decide what to actually do with the remote, he heard another knock on his door. Hoping it wasn't another strange parcel, Edgeworth pocketed the remote and opened the door. Waiting patiently for him to open it, was non other than...
