The trio now broken up, Dakota wandered a bit here and there about the shop, a few things catching her eye here and there among the rest of the “junk”; a shiny blue necklace that looked to be made from real lapis, a jam jar filled with some sort of purple gunk with a foreign language beautifully jotted on the label, and *shiver* a creepy puppet. Then she saw it. Solid black and perfectly smooth an old fashioned lamp, or better put, an EXTREMELY old fashioned lamp.
It was the shape and size of a Lamp that Dakota had always associated with Genies, but from its daunting color scheme Dakota would have to guess that an evil genie resided inside this one. Still, it’s shiny onyx luster seemed to call to her, begging to be picked up and rubbed. Dakota seemed to move like in a dream as she approached it, not even breathing as her heart thumped louder and louder she was inches away from it when-
“Hey look!” Piper Black’s paws quickly snatched the oblong object right from Dakota’s fingers. “Zack check it out!”
“Hmmm-what?” Mumbled Zack turning away from the old-time fortune teller he’d been studying. “Woah cool!” He shouted from half-way across the store, and quickly made towards the lamplighter uproar.
Dakota made to speak up that she’d spotted it first but Piper was already putting the lamp through its paces, rubbing the long tip while making a few lewd moans and sending Zack into a minor fit of laughs.
“Hmmm, no genie though.” said Piper feigning her heartbroken manner. “Too bad. I’ll have to settle for shacking up with some sugar daddy to give me anything I wish for. ” This sent Zack into another laughing bout, Hannah however remained silent, the magic she’d felt when her eyes first fell on the lamp having died down but not depleted.
“Wait, watch this guys.” Said Dakota wanting to prove the cool looking lamp still had some purpose. She picked it up ready to show her two friends how cool a lit lamp like this looks. The lamp, felt heavy in her hands, but as she opened the lid…she found that…there was no oil inside. “Oh, it’s empty….” Muttered Dakota a bit disheartened. Seeing there was no show, her two friends turned and immediately began browsing elsewhere, having instantly lost their attention in the lamp, labeling it as just one of the many other bric-a-brac of this bazaar's booty.
Maybe Dakota would still buy it. Going from the sticker on it, it cost $5.00 which was all Dakota really had to spend here, but it still looked sooo cool, with its highly polished solid black and copper sheen! Maybe she'd leave it...or maybe she could could talk Zack and Piper into splitting it....
