Texas could not have April wrapped up in all this. She knew her young deputy was a good and loyal officer, and that she would follow Texas to the ends of the earth, but if something should happen to her because Texas got her involved... No. Texas couldn't have that on her conscience. This was something she had to do alone.
The weasel hopped out of the dumpster she had been hiding in and brushed herself off, getting the worst of the rubbish though the smell would remain for a while. She took a deep breath, then started walking towards the sheriff's office to meet her foe head-on.
Inside the office, Georgia was leaning back in Texas's old chair, which was creaking alarmingly beneath her, and talking on the phone. Around the room sat a few of the mayor's thugs, all now wearing badges of their own, having been deputised moments beforehand.
"Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Yep. Don't worry 'bout a thing, missus mayor. I've got some of my girls out watching the edge of town. If she tries to escape, we'll get her." The mare grinned and put the phone down, then went back to cleaning her fingernails with a knife. "If my old boss knows what's good for her, she'll find somewhere quiet to curl up and die..."
Suddenly, Texas booted the door down and stormed in. The few new deputies stood up instantly, their hands moving to their guns, but Georgia held up a hand, stopping them.
"Texas... You're even more stupid than I remember. Any last words before I lock you up and throw away the key?" The mare asked, grinning widely. Texas just glared back at her with an unwavering gaze and an iron will, not showing any fear.
"Sheriff Georgia. Ah challenge you to a duel. A showdown at high noon. If ah win, you're handin' the sheriff's office back over to me. If you win... Well, ah think we both know what happens if you win..." She says grimly. Georgia raises an eyebrow, then placed her knife down and stood up, smiling.
