Inside the horses slept having already forgotten the events several days ago. A large brown stallion was in a pen on one side of the barn separated from the four mares. The first a, black mare, slept peacefully next to her was a white and brown paint. Along with them in their own pens were a white mare and another chestnut colored mare.
The alien peered through a small crack in the door. After making sure only the horses were inside the barn it pushed its body through the small opening. The jelly like substance regaining its shape as it passed into the barn. The alien fell to its knees in the middle of the barn startling the horses as it attempted to regain some strength. The alien knew it was dying and was determined to complete its mission.
It had been sent to the world as a last resort for the survival of its people. After a long and terrible war. They were being exterminated by a great enemy. It was decided to send their fastest ship past the blockade around the only world still under their control. After a harrowing run the ship rocketed into space escaping the hostile warships pursuing it. It had taken damage and lost some of its systems during the harrowing chase. The crash to this world had injured the alien forcing it to pick the easiest creature it could find to keep its people alive. The creature rested for as long as it felt safe to do so and during this time the horses calmed.
