Kris looked at her anime watch she got off the internet. It was one and a half hour before school would begin. Kris could wait for it, but that would take a very long time. With a spring in her step she opened the garage door to look for her bike. But as soon she saw the inside of the garage she stepped back and closed the door behind her. The garage was still a mess as her parents didn't have the time to clean it up. Kris shrugged and grabbed her backpack and the house key and started to lock all the doors. She then hid the key underneath a flower pot that was standing for years next to the front door. Kris didn't want to lose the key and if she managed to swap at least she had a house to go to.
Kris felt she was ready now and began her walk to school. It wasn't that far, 3 miles she believed. Kris thought it would be a good exercise. She rubbed her tummy through her jacket; she was thin but didn't have that much muscles. Kris was the type of girl that belonged to the go home group, she'd rather stay at home and watch anime and jacking off than join of she sport clubs of the school. Besides, Kris didn't think much of herself doing sports. During P.E. she was usually one of the last girls to be chosen and after exercising she usually would lie down on the couch with a bag of chips in her hand. Yeah, Kris didn't think much of herself when it came to exercise.
When Kris reached half a mile, she needed to take a little break. Her legs were tingling and she was already out of breath. Kris decided she would walk to school every day now. At least when she woke up early. Kris looked around herself as she caught her breath. The houses around seemed familiar to her, Kris felt like she knew this street. Kris walked further on as she looked around; there were some familiar things. Those shrubs, the garden gnome standing there in his shorts. Then Kris her feet stopped next to a house, her head turned right and upwards. She swallowed her spit as the memories returned. This was the place where Hana lived, or lives as Kris wasn't sure.
Kris remembered Hana fondly. She was the kind, cheerful kind of girl that everybody loved. Long curly orange hair, skinny, blue eyes and freckles. A lot of freckles actually. Her freckles covered her entire face. It wasn't something Hana could do about. She had to live with it. Kris didn't mind her looking like that, Hana was a lot of fun to play with. She could still remember playing behind Hana's house. Then the girls entered junior high. And that was when things started getting out of control. At first the bullying of Hana her freckles started lame, some words but except that nothing. And then, like fate had a say in it, Kate Welner entered the scene. Kate was the typical blond stuck up girl. Blue shiny eyes, fake eyelashes, long blond hair that she always brushed. Her parents were rich and snobbish. For some reason unknown to both Kris and Hana Kate started bullying Hana; making her trip and fall, writing notes on her lockers, talking trash behind her back. At first Hana could handle it, but then Hana didn't show up at school anymore. Hana wrote a letter to Kris breaking up all contact with her as Hana would transfer to a catholic girl school in the next town. Hana explained in her letter that she didn't want Kris to be seen with her. Otherwise she would feel the wrath of Kate.
Kris was thinking about all of this when she suddenly heard a car honking behind her. Kris jumped up and turned around. She saw someone familiar sitting in a car and stopped next to her. Who was it?
