Josh finally made his way through the rain over to the Marshall's. He come up the front steps and rang on their doorbell. He hoped Kira or really somebody other than Jenn would be the one to let him in, as he knew she wouldn't be happy to know Josh was coming over to play video games with his sister. Even if she was starting to come around. He eventually heard someone walking to the door within the house and it turned out to be Kira. "Hey Josh, glad you could make it." She opened the door and let him in. "I've made some progress on my homework, there's just a couple of problems that have me confused. Once you help me we can get right into playing."
He followed her upstairs. "Sounds good. Where's Jenn?"
"Oh, she and my parents just left. They're driving to the airport since my father's going on a business trip."
Josh was a skeptical about how Kira's parents would feel if they knew she was home alone with a boy. Especially since he was around 4 years older. But he had no cruel intentions and he remembered if Jenn and her parents would trust anyone it would be him.
Kira sat at her desk and Josh stood beside her, guiding her through the problems. He were easy for him since they were 6th grade level problems, but he made sure she understood. As they went though his mind started to wander. He couldn't help but think about his encounter with the elderly woman earlier. He was intrigued by what she had said, but the concept seemed too ridiculous to be true. He maintained enough focus to help finish the problems, however.
When they started playing it became a different story. Josh had already showed her the 'spot' he had messaged her about. But after that, he couldn't keep his eyes on the game and Kira started to destroy him over and over. "Are you okay Josh? You're normally better than this."
"Yeah I'm fine."
"You sure? Because I'm winning." She pointed out. Josh just nodded a yes.
When Josh continued to die over and over, Kira started to get concerned. "Your not okay Josh I can tell. Anything you want to talk about?"
Josh just figured he could get it off of his chest, and then let it go afterward since there was no chance she would believe him. He admitted what was wrong and told her the entire story. From missing the bus, to meeting the elderly woman, to his good deed, to receiving his 'gift.'
"Wow, that's cool! We should try it out." Kira said.
