Try as he might, there was only one he had major success with: the spell that had the picture of the being with huge privates.
Asriel bit his lower lip. He was nervous about trying the spell, knowing little what would happen, but his curiosity was eating him up from the inside. With a sigh, he smoothed the delicate scroll and began to read.
The words felt strange on his tongue, and his voice grew distorted. Asriel had heard from his mother that spells that contained dark magic did this. He was getting a little scared, but it was too late to back down now.
Nearing the end of the spell, the air began sparkle around him. A sharp gust of wind appeared out of nowhere, tugging at Asriel's robes, and the room grew brighter with a flash of light.
The goat man immediately jumped back when the spell was complete. The wind died down and the light dimmed, but there was still sparkles in the air. Asriel looked nervously around him, searching for anything that has changed.
Everything was still the way they were. Asriel gulped, continuing with his final step of his investigation. He reached out and grabbed his robes. He lifted it to his chest, studying his privates that dangled between his legs. Nothing had happened to them as well.
Asriel frowned. He didn't understand it. Did he do it wrong? Or was the scroll a dud, a complete waste of his time? Asriel couldn't ponder this for long, for he heard a familiar voice calling his name.
"Asriel, are you down here?"
It was Asgore, his father. Asriel quickly left the secret room, pushing the book back into the shelf. The wall slid close with a rumble.
"Yes, dad, I am," Asriel quickly answered.
Asgore appeared at the exit of the library. "I was just coming down here to tell you that your mom had finished making dinner," he said.
"I'll be up there in a sec, dad," Asriel said.
Asgore nodded and left the room. Asriel casted one last look at the bookshelf were the secret room was hidden behind before he left the library.
