You decided to stick to who you knew better and returned to your school to talk to Lydia Rune. Fortunately, she was just leaving a student body meeting when you arrived. She saw you approach and frowned before walking the other way. "We need to talk, Rune." Flatly, you said.
"I'm busy." Rudely, Lydia replied.
"Joe is missing!" Sternly, you shouted. "I know he went to school today!"
Lydia froze and turned to you, stunned. "Are you suggesting I might have had a hand in his apparent vanishing?" Insulted, she demanded.
"I am suggesting you might know what happened or know someone who saw something." More softly, you countered. You then walked up close and whispered, "Or would you rather the soothsayers question you on the subject?"
Lydia's face turned slightly pale. The soothsayers were the witching world's version of the police force who witches referred to as the D.D.M.C. or the Department of Dark Magic Control. "Joe did come to school." Quietly, she confirmed. "However, he seemed out of sorts."
"In what way?" Worried, you asked.
Lydia shrugged. "He said that he felt ill and was excused to the nurse's office near the end of the day." Frowning, she replied. "As you just saw, I was in a student body meeting right after school so I would not know what had happened after that. I would question the nurse or see if that Josh Gary fool knows anything as he claims to know everything."
With that, Lydia excused herself and continued to walk away. You and Lydia were rivals even before you went to Cauldron Academy as you ran against her for student body president. You had won but going to witch school allowed her to win due to your 'temporary transfer'. From the way she was acting, you knew she was hiding something but then was not the time to get into it; you had to think quickly and make your next move.
