The two waited in the exam room, with nothing seemingly happening at the moment.
"Huh." Takemi scratched at the back of her neck. "I expected something to happen."
Akira nodded. "Same here." He checked the time on his phone. It had been five minutes. He should have been unconscious by now. Still, the teenager considered this a victory. He had more free time today.
"I guess you can go home now." Takemi turned her attention to the computer on her desk, typing down notes at an incredibly quick pace. "If any strange side effects occur, report to me. I need to jot down any and all developments."
"Sure," he said as he left the exam room.
The streets of Yongen-Jaya were particularly busy for a tiny neighborhood. In the size of a small city block, the place had squeezed in things like restaurants, movie theaters, and even a super market. Akira liked it that way since it gave him something to do.
"Well, that was pointless," noted a voice from his backpack. Akira turned his head, facing to acknowledge his teammate and talking cat, Morgana. "At least you still have time to do something else today."
Akira nodded before pulling out his phone to check his messages.
Ann: Hey, do you want to get something to eat? Ann: I need something to take the stress off school and palaces. Ann: I'll be in the Underground Mall in Shibuya.
He thought about responding but decided to check his other messages.
Haru: I found another coffee shop! Haru: It's in Shinjuku, though. Haru: I don't want to go alone, so let me know if you're available.
