Rise’s eyes fluttered open. She tried to blink out the sleep out of her eyes as the sudden nap made her groggy. She could have sworn someone called her name, yet it looked like no one was in the room.
“Rise-chan!” squeaked the voice again.
She slowly turned her head to the source of the noise, finding a tiny person sitting on her shoulder. She blinked again. The figure didn’t disappear. Instead, her vision began to clear, and it became increasingly obvious that it was her shrunken senpai, Yu Narukami.
Her eyes went wide, shocked awake. Her breath quickened. She looked away for a moment before looking back at Yu, who was still there no matter how many times Rise tried to wake herself up.
“Yu-senpai?”
“Hey, Rise-chan,” he said nonchalantly.
The pop idol squealed, scooping up her tiny crush in her hands. She held him against her cheek, fighting the urge to take it further and bury him with a flurry of kisses. Yu didn’t bother struggling, fully expecting this kind of reaction from Rise.
“Ohmygosh! Ohmygosh! Yu-senpai! You’re soooo teeeeeny!” She pulled him away to get a better look at his tiny form. “What happened?”
“I ate a mushroom.”
Rise giggled. “Fair enough.” She grabbed Yu by the back of his shirt and watched him kick and flail in response. “I thought you were cute before, but somehow you got even cuter!”
Yu suddenly began to doubt if going after Rise’s attention was the best strategy. She was manhandling him with the slightest bit of effort, and it seemed like that wasn’t going to change soon.
“So…” Rise purred, a smile forming on her face. “I bet you had to climb me to reach my ear. I don’t suppose you took the scenic route, huh, senpai?”
Yu’s face went red. Rise had returned to her usual ways, and he wasn’t entirely sure if that was a good or a bad thing.
“I didn’t,” he answered, his tone firm, yet polite enough not to upset the much larger girl.
"Sure you didn't," she shot back, unfazed by his shutdown.
Standing up, Rise made sure to gingerly carry her shrunken senpai down the stairs and into the living room. She placed Yu onto the coffee table, fighting the urge to kick her feet next to him in order to tease him.
“Tell me what happened,” she beamed. “I want to know how you climbed me.”
Yu bit his tongue. He wasn’t sure if revealing that she had accidentally endangered him would go over well. Rise had a tendency to get a bit… emotional. However, he relayed what he felt was the most honest yet appropriate rendition of today’s events.
“That sounds like an ordeal,” she said, more intrigued than concerned. “If I had known you’d be that close to my feet, I would have washed them more thoroughly.” She scrunched her toes reflexively.
“Don’t worry about it,” he said. “In fact, don’t mention it… ever.”
Rise nodded. “Can do, senpai.” She paused for a moment. “Hey, Yu-senpai.”
“Yeah?”
