Down below lay the cursed ones

"Deep below lay the cursed ones" is rather general, whether this means those cursed by a god or simply what the main society sees as an unwanted people you don't know.
A long rope goes down into the chasm where you cant see its end. Deciding you have no better ideas you grab ahold and begin your decent into whatever this place is.
You are happy to notice that the rope is knotted, allowing you to climb down with less drain on your stamina as you continue down. Every now and then another light will pass by, by this point you've counted 6 zooming past you on your way down the tunnel.
After atleast 5 minutes of decent a dim light begins to illuminate the area around you, getting strong as you go down. You notice that the tunnel is also beginning to expand around you, previously the walls were about two feet away from you, now they're about 5.
Another minute of climbing and another minute of the light increasing, to the point you can now see the vague outline of the form of the roughly cut rock around you, looking down you can see your only about 20 feet away from the floor of this cavern. Just a little more and you'll set down...
With a russle of leaves you land squarely on the floor of whatever cavern you've ended up in. Looking about you see that you landed in a small pile of dead leaves and mostly melted snow, which is likely to thank for your soft landing. The chamber is dimly casked in a orange glow put off by another of those orbs, this one has taken a place floating about 5 feet off the floor. Ahead of you is a tunnel that leads out of the chamber but isn't illuminated by anything.
