Corrin's mind was made up. She would fight alongside Hoshido and against the Nohrian empire. Her ties to the Nohr royalty be damned, there was no going back there after seeing the recent events that left so many innocent lives lost. Her choice didn't come easily however, as the Nohrian's turned to fight against her and her true blood family. Corrin wasn't giving up though, and she pushed through a small fleet of Nohrian foot-soldiers. She fought not only to survive, but also to prove the determination behind her decision.
"Hyah!" Corrin shouted as she cut down the last of the immediate enemies. She took a moment to relax after delivering the finishing blow, breathing in deeply and exhaling softly.
When she opened her eyes Corrin found herself a little ways away from the battlefield. She'd wondered into quiet clearing. Calm and pristine air blew through the field, brushing back the white-haired woman's long locks. Corrin wiped some sweat from her brow and then prepared to return to the fray. When all of a sudden, she heard something coming from the bushes.
"Show yourself!" Corrin demanded, readying her sword.
The figure that then emerged from the shrubbery was none other than Xander, riding in on his steed. The two immediately locked eyes, both fiercely determined to see things through. Corrin wondered how Xander had managed to elude Ryoma.
"Let's be quick. My men can only stall Ryoma for so long." Xander spoke calmly and clearly, answering Corrin's question as if he could read her thoughts. His demeanor told her that he wasn't here to fight. Corrin imagined how different things might be if the rest of the kingdom could be more like he is right now all the time. She wanted it to be that way, but there was no mistaking what she knew that Nohrian's true side to be. Although it pained her deeply to have to confront her former "brother" in such a way, she was not going to back down.
"There's nothing to discuss." Corrin replied firmly. She kept a grip on her sword. "After what I witnessed? How can I return to you?"
"Please, Corrin. That's the Hoshidans talking! Brainwashing!" Xander insisted it to be.
"No, 'brother'." Corrin shook her head, closing her eyes and pushing down the pain in her heart. She held up her blade and looked up at Xander. "Unless you intend to take me by force... I will not return!"
Xander gasped quietly, and his expression waned. His "sister's" words stung deeply. He hung his head and reached for his chest.
"I'm sorry, Corrin." Xander told her, having had to steel himself to not call her his sister anymore. He looked down at Corrin. "I didn't want to have to take such drastic measures, but it seems you're leaving me no other choice."
Corrin felt a fight coming on and braced herself to battle the man she considered a brother not too long ago. But, to her surprise, Xander reached into his armor and pulled out a small glass ball, it appeared to be filled with some kind of swirling, purple smoke. Xander then took advantage of Corrin's moment of confusion and quickly threw the glass ball at Corrin's feet. The ball shattered on the ground, releasing the purple smoke up into the air.
"What is this?!" Corrin gasped as she tried to swat away the obviously ominous gas. In the confusion, Corrin dropped her sword. Her attempts to knock the gas away were no use however, as the smoke was nearly covering her completely. Just before it swallowed her up whole, Corrin noticed Xander outside the smoke, dismounting his steed.
"Xander, please! You can't mean to poison me, do you?" Corrin asked. But he didn't respond.
Corrin cursed herself for being so foolish, if only she'd ran away instead of trying to fight the gas, instead of trying to fight Xander or get him to talk. But just as she tried to do the former, Corrin suddenly felt very dizzy as the smoke started to fill her lungs. Her flailing attempts to clear the smoke away only made her lose her balance, and she collapsed on the ground below.
Corrin was still conscious as she hit the ground, but could found she could not move her body at all. She wanted to scream at Xander for what she thought was his attempt to kill her, but she couldn't even speak. She had no choice but to lay there in the deep purple mist and wait and see what would happen next.
Never did Corrin suspect that the mist from the ball was shrinking her body rapidly. The dwindling half-dragon diminished smaller and smaller in the cloud, until she was...
