Chapter #5

Cake Time

    by: expandor Author IconMail Icon
Carrie found herself wondering to the Kitchens. She didn't know how she even knew where they were, but somehow, she found them. The Kitchen was enormous, but it was a total mess; cobwebs and dust covered every surface. Some of the large, oak cupboards had been left open, but when Carrie checked them, they were completely empty. Her stomach continued to rumble, and she sped up her search, pulling open cupboard doors and drawers. But every single one was empty.

Carrie wasn't sure what she had expected. Even if there had been food in this old place, it would have rotted years ago. She regretted not going to the vending machine after work. Of all the places to suddenly feel starving...

Sighing and clutching her aching stomach, Carrie headed out of the Kitchen through a different door. In the centre of the room was a massive dining table with enough chairs for about fifty people, and at the end of the table...a massive, chocolate, cake.

Carrie's jaw dropped as she stared at the perfect looking cake before her. She hurried forward excitedly, desperate for something, anything, to eat. It looked freshly baked, though she wasn't sure how that was possible. But there was no dust on top, no signs of the cake going bad...it looked incredible.

Carrie barely heard the voice this time. She was too focused on the enormous cake in front of her. Too focused on satisfying her increasing hunger. Her stomach rumbled again, and she moved closer, pulling out a chair and seating herself right in front of it. Beside the cake was a knife and a small plate.

"Wh-what the hell....is this..." Carrie moaned as her stomach groaned. "This isn't right..."

Her stomach gave a huge, thunderous roar, and Carrie hastily grabbed the knife and cut herself a massive slice. Before she could think about the consequences, she found herself pushing the entire slice into her mouth ravenously. It tasted amazing. Better than any cake she had eaten in her entire life. Rich, chocolatey, moist. She didn't know why it was here, but right now, she didn't care. When the entire slice was gone, she had to stop and breathe. She had eaten it so quickly that she had barely savoured it...and that called for another slice...

Carrie cut herself another slice, even larger than before, and took a large bite, savouring the entire mouthful. It was so good she let out an involuntary moan of pleasure. It didn't take long for her appetite to take over again, and she quickly finished up her second slice and moved onto a third...
