What if in Mysthaven (aka the enchanted forest) and other magical realms the inhabitants grew larger due to the magic in the air and within themselves than those in magic less realms. This is a gradual thing so kids were the size of normal kids, they just didn't stop growing until around 50ft or so.
So when Regina cast the curse everyone entered the World without Magic their usual size, which due to the way the curse was set up wasn't any kind of problem... until Emma shows up. Both her and Henry were basically from this world so are the size of normal people but while that's fine for Henry (like I said, kids are normal size, they just KEEP growing until they reach giant size), it is strange for an adult like Emma to be barely taller than a child to them.
[Yes I know there will be giants as well as giantess, but keep M/f and M/m interactions to a minimum, please]
