Ruby already knew who her first target would be. It was so obvious and she wouldn’t have to say anything before doing it.
Weiss.
Her partner would be the perfect test subject. As they lived together, any swaps could easily be undone and it allowed Ruby to observe the results of said swaps. This was also the opportunity to learn more about her partner. Giggling to herself, she ran as fast as possible. Her speed Semblance allowed her to arrive back at Beacon in no time at all. She dashed up the stairs and turned down the hallway to her dorm.
Nearly crashing into the person she was looking for.
“Watch where you’re going, dolt.” Weiss had barely been able to step to the side and Ruby tripped in the process of trying to avoid her, ending up on the ground. “I thought you were going to waste time in the Emerald Forest?”
“I did,” Ruby bragged, pushing herself up to her feet. “I came back to… get started on my homework.” That was a lie and Weiss had to obviously know that.
“Really?” She raised an eyebrow in disbelief while crossing her arms.
“Yes,” Ruby lied again. “I’ve been thinking. You were right. My grades aren’t as high as they should be because I don’t study hard enough. I still don’t like studying, but I’m trying to get into the habit.” Weiss stared at her for a moment in silence. Ruby felt sweat form on her forehead and her heart stopped.
“Okay,” Weiss said and her expression changed from skepticism to being slightly impressed. Ruby’s heart started beating again. “I’m glad to see you are taking your responsibilities seriously for a change. No one likes studying, but you have to do it. I need to drop something off at Professor Goodwitch’s office and then I’ll be back. If you have any questions on the assignment, I can help you.”
“Thanks a lot, bestie,” Ruby replied and Weiss rolled her eyes. Weiss normally helped by making sure Ruby was reading the right chapters and occasionally proofread her essays. Ruby had an inkling that Weiss would be more helpful this time because she believed Ruby was taking the initiative instead of being forced.
This caused Ruby to feel a little guilty as she raised the remote at Weiss’s retreating back.
Since Weiss was going to be back soon, Ruby didn’t want to Life Swap yet. She limited it to one of the other swaps. The Body Swap button would allow Ruby to become Weiss physically, but everyone else would still see her as herself. Wardrobe Swap was really temping. Weiss never let Ruby try on her clothes. Of course, she hated heals, but it might be fun to walk a mile in Weiss’s shoes. Ruby immediately hated herself for thinking of a Yang pun. The last option was a Personality/Personal Info swap. This would cause them to swap something less physical.
