Jaune raised the remote, still debating which button to press, when his Scroll suddenly went off.
Shit!
He almost dropped the remote. Fumbling with it quickly, he shoved it into his pocket and pulled out his Scroll. Blake didn’t even glance up as he answered.
“Ah, Mr. Arc.” A middle-aged man with tousled silver hair and thin brown eyes stared at him through black spectacles. It was Ozpin, headmaster of Beacon.
“Hello, sir,” Jaune replied respectfully.
“I wish to speak to you in my office,” Ozpin said. “Please make your way here immediately. It is about a possible mission opportunity for your team.”
“Er... I’ll be there right away.” Ozpin nodded and disconnected. Jaune turned away from Blake, figuring another opportunity to test out the remote would appear as he made his way to Ozpin’s office. It didn’t take him very long and, after knocking, was let in. “You wanted to talk to me about a mission?”
“Yes, have a seat.” Ozpin sipped the coffee from his mug. “While you are a first year team, Team JNPR has shown to be resilient and reliable. A couple Grimm near a small town need to be exterminated before the day to day activities are interrupted. Normally, the militia would be able to handle this, but I volunteered your team to help out. Think of this as not only an opportunity to gain real world experience, but to make up for the damage your enthusiastic team member caused to our statute.”
Jaune flinched as he remembered Nora and Yang drawing pictures on it last week.
“I’m sure it would help get Glynda off your back,” Ozpin added. “You are free to not accept-…”
“No, we will.” Jaune interjected. He could only imagine what Nora would say if he declined the chance for them to go on an adventure. Ren would go along with her and Pyrrha would go with whatever Jaune decided. Besides, having Glynda Goodwitch, deputy headmistress, think better of them was a huge boon. “Is there anything else we should know?”
“The mission will last 3 days,” Ozpin told him and passed over a folder. “All the information about the city and surrounding area is there. You need to take care of the Grimm problem within that time. If you don’t, I will have no choice but to count it as a failure and it will be a black mark on your record. If you finish early, take the opportunity to relax in the area. The Bullhead leaves in two hours so that you will arrive in the morning. Please prepare yourself accordingly.”
“Understood, sir.” Jaune took the file and left the office. Once he was in the elevator, he opened the folder to see where they were going.
