Mary didn't budge

Despite the two's efforts Mary still refused to come free and Ashley then stopped pulling and said,"I think we need more help." Good idea, replied Mary, grabbed my phone out of my bag and call my friend Sarah." Ashley called Sarah,who arrived 20 minutes later with her friend, Jennifer. After Mary explained the situation,a chain was formed with Sarah pulling Mary's hips ,Jennifer pulling Sarah's waist, Ashley pulling Jennifer and Mary pushing.
"Pull said Sarah as everyone pulled and pushed.
"OW", replied Mary who didn't budge
"Pull",said Sarah again as everyone then tried even harder.
"OW", said Mary again as the tree trunk still refused to let go of her.
"Come on girls"," put your backs into it" "pull" said Sarah as everyone pulled and pushed with all their strength until

1. POP!,Mary was pulled free.

2. OW, Mary still didn't move.
