"Aww, you really don't remember anything?" The woman looked up after she felt something tapping her head and noticed it was Ellie's finger, looking at her with a sad face. Some taps felt nice and other felt a bit too hard, more like bonks against a soft wall, but she couldn't deny it felt comforting.
"Nothing.. sorry" The woman shook her head again
"Why are you saying sorry?" Ellie tilted her head cutely
"Well, I don't know my name.. or if I'm a fairy or.. anything. All I remember is that I think I was not tiny before.. I think"
"It's ok, you can stay here while you remember" Ellie said, sounding like she just accepted an important mission. The woman perked up a bit at Ellie's offer which made her smile, looking around it was a typical little girl's room filled with toys and dollhouses and with the largest pieces of furniture being that huge pink bed and the desk she was currently in, but it was a lot better than trying to survive in the woods.
"Thank you Ellie.. and thank you for the shirt" The woman tried to fix her "dress" a bit, making Ellie giggle and tap the woman's head again playfully.
"You can thank Cindy! the shirt was from her" Ellie said
"Cindy?"
Ellie walked to her toy chest and the woman stumbled and fell on her butt when she saw Ellie presenting her a doll that was almost twice her size, with the top half exposing the plastic material and the little joins between the torso and arms.
"Oh.." was all the woman could say, getting up slowly and still stricken by how a doll towered over her like that and how the same gentle fingers that carried her here where grabbing something twice her size so easily. She knew so far Ellie had been very nice with her but her instincts were telling her to stay away from someone that much more powerful
"You're welcome!" Ellie giggled mimicking the voice of this Cindy doll "I'm sorry my shirt is too big"
"I-it's okay" the woman played along, more out of relief at being able to talk with others again than at humoring the little girl's playtime
"Polly is the only one I know your size but her clothes are um.. different"
"Polly?" The woman watched as Ellie went again to her toy chest and now brought a doll that was just a head taller than her
"The clothes are different, see?" Ellie cheerfully explained as she took the doll's sweater and presented it to the woman, who could see it was from some rubber material she wouldn't be able to move. Ellie looked as the woman checked the sweater and then the doll, spending a bit too much time doing so.
"Do you like it?" Ellie tilted her head, happy with her new friend's reaction
"I um.. I feel like I should recognize this"
"It's a Polly Pocket! maybe you owned one too, or maybe your name is Polly" Ellie giggled as the woman kept thinking and checking if it brought any particular memory but nothing came to mind. Now that she focused on it, what she was pretty certain about was that she was a normal person just like Ellie, someone with a house, maybe with a family and a daughter who had dolls. Beyond that she couldn't make any connection
"Hey, can I call you Polly while you remember your real name?" Ellie said so excitedly the woman was more surprised by the innocent question than offended at being assigned a doll name. She just nodded absently, thinking there was no harm in it for now, it was as good of a name as any while she stayed here with Ellie.
"Yay! What do you want to do now Polly?" Ellie said patting the woman slightly again, and apparently getting the hang of it as her huge finger was getting more and more gentle each time she did it.
