Chapter #7

Destination: Anywhere But Here

Lysithea could feel the magical energy within - powerful, yet finite. To teleport both herself and someone else across a vast distance would be a monumental task, one that was practically impossible even for the best spellcasters in all of Fodlan. However, whether it was by the 'blessings' of her dual Crests, her months of training in the arcane arts, or just the sheer adrenaline when she felt darkness fall upon her as the scone finally passed through Marianne's lips, Lysithea von Ordelia did the impossible. The mage screamed in pain as she pushed beyond her limit, and in a puff of light, both Leonie and herself disappeared (just as their unaware classmate finally closed their jaw and bit into the scone.)

Unfortunately, it always took Lysithea the utmost concentration to use her warping spell. When she had saved Leonie from the Death Knight in their prior mission, she had thankfully been defended from any distractions or attacks, and she had focused clearly on the spot right in front of her with her own eyes. Suffice to say, being the size of a speck and filled with the dread that she might be turned into mush by her friend's teeth had been far more distracting for the mage. Now, as she and Leonie tumbled through the space between spaces for the briefest of moments, her thoughts of Claude and the others on the table were consumed by the gigantic Marianne that could have been their unwitting executioner. Consequently, it was all the spell needed for a destination.

Light, sound and air returned to the two girls as they were deposited back into the waking world, landing together in a crumpled heap.

Leonie groaned - it felt like their stomach had been flipped, turned inside out and then flipped again. "Uuuuugh..." Leonie took a few seconds to flex her limbs until the feeling returned to them before pushing herself back to her feet. She was more than a little dizzy, but patting herself down, she seemed intact, alive and not currently drowning in saliva or melting in stomach acid. "B-By the Goddess, you did it! Lysithea, you really did it! I knew you could-!"

Lysithea coughed up globules of blood in response.

"Oh, right... I guess that did a number on you, huh? Don't worry, I can take it from here..." Leonie quickly sought to return the favor, kneeling down and hoisting the borderline-comatose mage over their back, wrapping their thin arms around her shoulders so that they might carry them. Leonie was thankful that Lysithea was so short and light compared to her other classmates (although they were still slightly heavier than she would have expected for someone so frail - she chalked it up to all the sweets and desserts that they must have eaten as of late.)

"You good?" Leonie asked, turning her head to eye her piggybacking partner.

Lysithea mumbled something that vaguely sounded like an acknowledgement.

Leonie nodded, before turning to examine her surroundings, now that her senses were finally starting to return to her in earnest. "Now... Just where the heck are we anyway...?"
