This choice: Lee checks into work, ready for everything. Except for everyone being tiny! • Go Back...Chapter #3Lee checks into work, ready for everything. Exc... by: Gaturm She sighed, then finally got up and dragged herself to her car. She had to get it over with, and besides, she didn't actually have to work that long today. She could tolerate Cullen and her coworkers for a few hours. At least she could be sure all of them would be either enthralled or envious by her outfit.
As she drove along the road, she kept thinking about work. So much so, that she barely even noticed how deserted the street was. Not a single car drove in her direction, nor could she see any pedestrians. Was today a holiday she had somehow missed? It was possible, Lee wasn't tracking time by day anymore, but rather by shift.
She shrugged her shoulders and continued to her workplace. An empty street only meant that she didn't have to pay all that much attention. At least for that, she could be thankful.
Lee drove up into the company parking lot. Strangely, there weren't many cars here, either. Maybe she really did forget something. But Cullen had been adamant that she come in today. Not that it would be unlike him to call her in on a free day.
She strode through the bare parking lot, dreading every step that took her closer to the accursed steel tower that was her workplace. Gritting her teeth, she stepped inside.
And was baffled. The reception area, usually busy as hell, was completely empty. Not even the receptionist himself - maybe the only pleasant person in the entire company - was here.
June thought about leaving. If no one else had bothered to come, why should she? It was obviously some kind of holiday she had forgotten, so she should be lying in bed right now.
But something was stirring inside her. She could have sworn today was just a normal Wednesday. So where was everybody? First the empty streets, now her office building seemed completely deserted. Just what was going on? Was someone playing a prank on her?
Against her better judgment, she continued towards the elevator. Whatever was going on, she was curious now. If it was a prank, she could only admire the dedication of the trickster. If it wasn't... hell, she couldn't even imagine what it could be instead.
With a ding the elevator opened it's doors and Lee rode up to the 10th floor - her office. As she stepped out, she was barely even surprised anymore to find it empty as well. Slowly, she strolled through the open floor office, past the desks of her coworkers until she reached her own.
She had expected some kind of hint, or at least something out of place. But there was nothing. Only her desk as it had always been.
Lee sighed, depositing her stuff on the desk. Whatever was happening, it could wait for her to figure it out. For now though, she had to meet with her boss. Something that she didn't look forward to at all.
But what she hadn't noticed were the many tiny people scurrying over the floor. Some of them had tried to reach her, but she was simply to fast for them. A single step for Lee was countless yards for her shrunken coworkers. When they had finally accepted that they wouldn't get her attention, they had opted to avoid her instead. Getting caught underneath her feet was the last thing any of them wanted.
But now, the gargantuan woman was moving again, striding through the office without a care in the world. Her coworkers didn't know what would be worse. Her ignoring them.
Or her noticing them? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
