Just as you were about to leave your bedroom and head out to start your day, you notice that both of your computer's monitors flicker to life by themselves, followed by the quiet hum of the computer's cooling fan.
"Huh? Did I leave those on last night?"
No, you decided, that was impossible. Your computer was always switched off at night so your cats didn't walk across the keyboard and turn it on in the dead of night while you slept, flooding your room with the harsh lights from your monitors in the process. There was even a time when the little shits triggered your iTunes to play your favorite gaming metal mix at four in the morning at max volume.
Yeah, that wasn't a fun time. Your mom and sisters had been pissed.
So, with that in mind, how did you computer turn itself on by itself?
"I hope its not a virus...," you groused as you sat in your worn leather desk chair, "last time I had one of those it nearly killed my whole hard drive..."
With a couple of deft clicks of the mouse, your email opened up and, after a moment of loading, dumped a load of unread messages in your inbox. Most of them were the usual crapware that your spam blocker failed to screen from the incoming mail, but there were a few from your favorite websites informing you of new content or cool shit for sale on eBay that you'd been eyeballing.
Scrolling through the spam mail offers for "KETO DIET: LOSE BELLY FAT NOW!" and fake "iTunes Support" mail everyone seemed to get nowadays, you paused as something odd caught your eye.
