"I can't be a secretary!? I don't know what the heck those do?" Peter said in a minor panic making his high voice squeak even higher. Judy rolled her eyes at her boyfriends remark, "Secretary's aren't aliens, they're people. It's just a job. You sit at a desk, answer emails, take calls, maybe type out or organize projects you're given."
"Yes, we should be able to take in some context clues once we get to our desks. For example," Eugene said as he looked at an ID he had just noticed in his pocket. "I am indeed...Jeanie and I'm a secretary in the R&D department of Morphmanji Inc."
The other three fished for their ID's and saw they were all in the same department. Peter groaned as he saw his name was indeed Petra and was a little weirded out that he found the picture of the woman on the ID insanely hot. "So...we just go to our desks and...do stuff. And then we'll be out of here and back in our bodies?"
"Not necessarily, who knows how long it could take us to get promoted. It could take in game months or even years to get the promotion. We might even get a game over if we screw up enough. See," Lindsay said pointing at her ID. "In tiny print on the back of the ID it says '5 lives'. Maybe if we screw up 5 times we get a game over and who knows what happens then."
Peter gulped as his eyes widened in terror. His girlfriend noticed her boyfriends distress and Judy put an arm around Peter's shoulder and said, "Don't worry, I'll help you out so you don't have to find out what happens if we lose...but I'll still kick all of your butts." She said as she gave Peter a quick peck on the cheek.
"It probably won't be that bad, I'm sure time will probably fly by as we play like in any real game." Eugene said to cheer everyone up, "It'll be just like doing homework!" He added enthusiastically and Lindsay nodded in agreement. Judy and Peter didn't share the same love of homework as the two nerdier members of their group, but didn't want to rain on their parade. Now that the 4 had settled down and into this world a little bit more, a clock went off implying the tea break was over. The four players went to their starting stations behind their desks which were conveniently all beside each other and right outside of the break room.
Before Peter could even sit down he heard the mad tapping of computer keys from Eugene and Lindsay's stations. Judy was already answering a phone call and Peter was just staring at a blank screen not sure what to do first. He already felt like he was in last place, something his competitive nature was not a fan of, but he had no idea how to get the promotion first to win and turn everything back.
