As if stepping from an interdimensional portal into this world, a colossal creature appears in the now-cavernous doorway. Tony can only watch in amazement and horror as the monstrous being crosses the room, a terrific *BOOM!* and a mighty tremor heralding each footstep. Tony had always liked kaiju movies, and delighted in seeing gigantic monsters level a city as people fled in terror. But while he enjoyed this experience on screen, he never would have imagined that he would live through it, especially not in his own house. And he would have imagined even less just what type of enormous beast he would end up staring down. This was no mutant lizard or titanic alien conqueror, but the mountainous menace is something both freakishly imposing and incredulously familiar.
It’s terrifying...
It’s humongous...
It’s blood-curdling...
“IT’S MOMMY!”
The voice, at once a thundering boom and a cheerful sing-song, left Tony no doubts as to the identity of the colossal intruder. He stands transfixed on his bed as his overgrown mother lumbers towards him, with a smile that is at once lovingly sweet and blissfully ignorant.
“Yoo-hoo! Mommy’s back!” Betty Ann calls out as she approaches her son’s bed. “Tony? Honey? Where are you?” She begins to look around quizzically when she doesn’t see or hear him, unaware that she is in fact looming over her now-miniaturized child at that very moment. As she paces around searching for her little boy, Tony frantically tries to catch her attention from below.
“Mom! Mom! Down here!” Tony yells, struggling to maintain his balance over the trembling of his mother’s footsteps. As Betty Ann walked, Tony realized that she was not looking down, and was not noticing where her enormous feet were landing. He breathed a sigh of relief that he was safe on his bed...for now. Although his voice was not powerful enough to attract his mom’s attention, he continued to jump up and down and flail his arms in a desperate effort to catch her eye.
Whether through Tony’s efforts or by sheer luck, Betty Ann eventually makes her way back to Tony’s bedside, continuing to look for her son. “Tony? Tony? Are you in here?” she wonders as she looks down towards the bed. Tony stares up and waves at the giant woman, hoping against hope that he managed to attract her attention.
