“What’s the matter, Colin? Too Cucco to explore the grove?” Talo taunted the timid blonde boy as they stood outside of the entrance of the Sacred Grove, a forbidden place where it was previously inaccessible until they found the way in.
“You realize your taunting just revealed the way into the Grove, right?” muttered Malo, Talo’s little brother.
“But, my dad says it’s not safe in there,” Colin stammered, afraid of what lurked within the woods.
“Oh come on, don’t tell me you’re backing out now!” Talon assumed. “I heard it from your dad when he was talking to Mayor Bo! He said the only way in was to call a Golden Cucco and we would be able to reach the entrance to the Sacred Grove!”
“No! My dad says there’s a monster who hexes people who enters! I’m not going to have my dad yell at me because you guys dared me to! I won’t do it!” Colin screamed, turning around and crossing his arms.
“Oh come on! Where’s your sense of courage? After all, didn’t you say you wanna be brave just like Link?” Talo inquired, remembering how he pushed his friend out of the way and took an oncoming boar directly.
“Yeah, but I’m not suicidal! I’m not gonna go through with it!”
“Suit yourself.” Suddenly, Talo whistled nearly perfect as Colin’s father would, and all of a sudden, the Golden Cucco came out of hiding and approached the person who whistled for him, much to Colin’s shock.
“What!? How did you...!?”
“Something I also heard from your father,” Talo said, picking up the Golden Cucco and bringing it to Colin. “So, you wanna go first, or should we go first?”
“Maybe it’d be best if all of us went,” Malo muttered.
