This choice: During a drinking contest, a bandit let out an earthshaking belch • Go Back...Chapter #8An Earthshaking Belch by: ejones312 The room where Parvus slept in was a storage room. It was quieter inside, it had a desk with a window for illumination, and it was where the Big Babe Bandits kept their food.
To accommodate their growing little boy, Rulvu forcefully commissioned and woodcarver to construct a little miniature house fit for a doll-sized boy like Parvus, so he would have to live like a normal-sized being and not scavenge and scurry for food and risk being stepped on. On that note, the woodcarver constructed a walkway along the walls so Parvus wouldn't always have to rely on his surrogate giant family to carry him around.
However, despite the storage room being quieter, all it could do was muffle some of the partying going on outside the door. This proved fruitless because in the middle of a dreamless sleep, a loud, earth-shuddering belch resonated throughout the entire house... no, the entire village, echoing out the countryside. This was followed by a momentary, awkward silence, and a clamor of cheer from the female bandits. What they didn't account for was they woke up the little white-haired boy who was startled awake and couldn't get to sleep because of the noise.
After a few minutes of trying to go back to sleep, another loud belch, not as loud as the one that woke him up, prevented him from falling back. With a moan, Parvus slipped out of bed whilst wearing his pajamas and walked along the walkway into the main hall.
Everywhere he looked in the main hall, he saw the top-ranking members of the Big Babe Bandits celebrating their recent raid of some poor, defenseless village, sharing in the glory of the riches and the fermented taste of mead. All of them were gigantic women of different races from all over the world, but his adopted mother, Rulvu was an orc and as big as a mountain.
Case in point, she and her fellow bandits guzzled down their mead and enjoyed their drunken merriment, the table and floor littered with tens of mead mugs all over. Parvus was familiar with the game; it was a drinking game, and Rulvu hardly ever lost any drinking game with all manner of fermented drinks. Currently, she was engaging with a few of his surrogate aunts and sisters, top-ranking members of the Triple B's below Rulvu. Among them were Broga the Destroyer, Malma the Cunning, and Leopraeda the Swift Blade.
Broga the Destroyer is a runt among goliaths, a giant humanoid race. To prove the other taunting goliaths otherwise, Broga became a member of the Triple B's and consistently challenged Rulvu for her position as their leader, Despite Broga being stronger, Rulvu always won each duel with her skill. She's become Rulvu's second-in-command ever since, and she's used her brute strength to destroy the structures of the villages with a single tackle. Parvus was always uneasy with her, seeing how she as stern, and Parvus was always afraid of stern giants.
Malma the Cunning was a dark-skinned human and the top strategist for the Triple B's, planning out the bandits' raids on the villages and any contingencies should any of the villages show any sign of resistance. She wore a suit armor crafted by the bandits' female blacksmith, and was proficient with a sword. She was also a substitute for Rulvu's motherly guardian roles when the orc was busy with other matters and Parvus needed attention, leading the boy to rate Malma as his favorite aunt, out of all the other bandits.
Leopraeda the Swift Blade, though while smaller than her fellow bandits, earned her moniker for her speed and ferocity with a blade. As a leopard tabaxi, a race of catlike humanoids, Leopraeda was naturally gifted with speed and agility, making her the perfect scout and warrior. Leopraeda initially wanted to eat Parvus since he was as tiny as a baby mouse, but after Rulvu took him in, she naturally grew to accept him as family and not deliberate food. She taught Parvus how to walk and run, and to best use bladed weapons against larger opponents, like any living creature larger than his body, which was kind of redundant. Parvus looked up to her as his surrogate big sister since.
Parvus arrived in the main hall just in time to see Malma guzzle down another mug of mead, slam the mug down, and released a nauseating belch. While the other bandits in the hall applauded it, Parvus slapped his hands over his ears to drown out the noise. It was fortunate then that the walkways were built next to the table where Rulvu and her bandits were stationed at. The only problem was trying to get their attention while everything was so loud, no one would hear his voice.
The tiny-born boy scurried along the walkway until he was just across from the table, watching Leopraeda down another mug and belch like how a human would belch, mixed with a cat's purr and meow, amusing the other ladies present. "Excuse me?" Parvus called out to the giantesses, only to receive no response. "Excuse me? Mama? Auntie Malma? Auntie Broga? Big sis Praeda? Can you hear me?"
The noise was too loud for anyone to hear the child, and the giantesses were intoxicated by the amount of mead they guzzled down. With a tired whimper, Parvus ventured to the edge of the walkway and tried again. "Excuse me!? Mama!? Can you hear me!? I'm trying to sleep, and you woke me up! I can't go back to sleep!"
Parvus got a little closer to the edge of the walkway and tried again. "Hello!? Can you hear me!?"
What happens next?
1.) Parvus gets the attention of Rulvu and the other bandits, and they bring him over to their table.
2.) Parvus is accidentally knocked over by a passing bandit bumping into his walkway, and into a full mug of mead for Rulvu's table!

4.) Parvus is accidentally knocked over by a passing bandit bumping into his walkway, and he falls on the floor at the mercy of the giant bandits' feet! indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
