Chapter #3First day: summoning by: -- You are Ono Yaeko, an 18 year old girl. To everyone else, you were an average student at the Hokkaido Musashi Women's Junior College in Sapporo.
You were decent in all your grades, not the worst but also not the best. You had a good few friends and everyone in class had a good, if not vague, impression of you. You did not stand out, and you sure tried to fit in.
But tonight, you were a participant in a secret war that could change the course of history. A war fought with magecraft and copies of historical figures until only one remained to get their wish granted by the holy grail.
Let's go back to the beginning: centuries ago, your ancestors, who were magus, fled to Hokkaido to escape rival magus families caught in a blood feud. They had decided to stay in Hokkaido and lie low, fearing they had to escape again if the other magus families or normal people knew that they had magic circuits and practiced magecraft.
And thus, you were the latest in your bloodline. You had decent magic circuits and showed acceptable magecraft skills. From young, you were told to lay low and blend in, and that magus were an unforgiving bunch. A slight against them would never be forgotten.
Yet all pretense of hiding now was rendered moot. 20 years after the last holy grail war, the grail had emerged again in Hokkaido, choosing the participants that will have to fight. And you, of course, were chosen. Without anyone else to pass your command seals onto, you had to bear the responsibility and come back alive. No use hiding now.
And that leads you to tonight. The first day of the war. The summoning stage.
Most magus already had a servant in mind, mostly strong ones, and they either added pieces of objects important to that person's history into their summoning circle or drew their circles in areas historically important to that servant. The most ambitious and eager of magus did both.
You, however, did not feel particularly attuned to any one servant. So here you were on this night, 10 p.m with the moon hanging solemnly on the sky obscured partially by clouds, inside a lone warehouse on the edges of town.
You hoped that luck was on your side, finishing up the large circle in the middle of the room. You did the rites and started to chant:
"Let silver and steel be the essence
Let stone and the archduke of contracts be the foundation
Let rise a wall against the wind that shall fall
Let the four cardinal gates close
Let the three-forked road from the crown reaching unto the Kingdom rotate
I hereby declare.
Your body shall serve under me.
My fate shall be your sword
Submit to the beckoning of the Holy Grail
If you will submit to this will and this reason…Then answer!"
The red magic circle glowed a faint red, before turning into a bright white that seemed to hum. As your chant reached it's conclusion, the white glow became blinding bright, making you close your eyes and look away with your arm covering your face after the incantation was complete and the light swelled to the maximum.
After the light died out, you slowly lowered your arm and opened your eyes to see a dark figure standing within the circle. It was your new servant. It was... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
