Lola Loud, the 6-year old pageant princess of the Loud family, was currently doing her makeup at her pageant studio. Making her self look good to impress her fans was something she really enjoyed. But what Lola really liked more than that was spending time her friends. And today was no exception as she had something big planned for the end of the week.
Among the pink princess in the studio were her good friends, Roxanne, and international beauty pageant champion, Cricket Van Doren. Lola really liked hanging out with them, that was for sure. Cricket was a girl with dark skin, long, curly black hair, a golden tiara on her head, freckles, and an outfit just like Lola's, only it was blue instead of pink. And Roxanne was a little girl carrying a fairy wand with long brown hair and a green pageant gown.
Lola was just walking up to them to say hi with something special in her hands. "Hi Cricket. Hi Roxanne." Lola greeted.
"Hey Lola. Good to see you." Roxanne said.
"Guess what you guys. My family is planning on going out this Friday, so my Mom said that I could host my very own slumber party!" Lola exclaimed passionately.
"Really Lola? That sounds wonderful." Cricket replied. "Yep, and I've decided that...you two are invited!" Lola said with a brief pause as she brought out two well-decorated pink envelopes from behind her back and handed them to her friends. They both gasped in excitement.
"EEEH!" Cricket and Roxanne squealed. "We'd love to go to your slumber party Lola." Roxanne answered. "Yeah, we can't wait. Just the three of us." Cricket added.
"Actually, it'll be four of us." Lola corrected, much to their confusion. "I invited one more person from my school. I think you guys are gonna love her."
"Really? Is she a pageant powerhouse too?" Roxanne asked. "Well, not exactly. But she is really nice. You guys would love her." Lola answered. "Okay then. We'll see you there, Lola." Cricket said as the girls had all departed from the pageant studio and headed home. Lola, of course, was excited for her slumber party. Just her and three of her friends, at least that's what she was hoping for.
Meanwhile, at the home of the Loud family, Lincoln was currently doing his homework in his room when he suddenly heard a knock on his door. "Come in." Lincoln said while still working.
It was his mother, Rita Loud, who came in with a request for her son. "Hello Lincoln. Honey, I have a little favor to ask you." She said.
"What is it, Mom? I'm a little busy with my homework right now." Lincoln said.
"Oh no, Lincoln not right now." Rita said while putting her hand on his shoulder, causing Lincoln to turn to her. "You know how we all planned on going out this Friday?" She asked and Lincoln nodded. "Well, I kind of need you to stay behind."
"What, why Mom?" Lincoln asked in confusion. "How come I have to stay at home?"
"Well Lincoln, Lola was planning on having a slumber party this Friday and the thing is... I can't stay to look after her and her friends. Plus your father has a big party at the restaurant scheduled for that night and all of your other sisters are also going out so someone has to stay behind and look after them while we're gone." Rita explained.
"But why me, Mom? Can't someone else do it?" Lincoln asked again.
"I'm sorry, honey. But everyone's busy that night and you're the only one who doesn't have anything planned, so it has to be you." Rita answered as she kneeled down to be at eye-level with him. "Besides, Lola and her friends are all just little girls. We can't just leave them here all alone. Plus, you're good at taking care of your little sisters, Lincoln. I'm sure you'll do great."
"I don't know mom." Lincoln reluctantly answered. "I don't know that much about babysitting. Besides, what if Lola's friends don't really like me?"
"Nonsense, Lincoln. I'm sure they'll be happy having you around." Rita replied. "All you have to do is feed them, watch them to make sure they don't get hurt and you also have to play with them. That's being a good host. Okay Lincoln."
"Well, I guess I can do it. They can't be that much trouble, right?" Lincoln answered.
"That's the spirit, sweetie." Rita said and kissed Lincoln on the forehead. "They'll be here on Friday so I want you to keep them all safe, make sure they're fed, and be sure that they all go to bed on time. Thank you sweetie." Rita said leaving Lincoln's room.
A few days later, it was Friday and everyone in the Loud House besides Lola and Lincoln were preparing to leave for the evening. Lola was getting everything ready for her guests to arrive; putting her tea party table together, making fresh hot tea and snacks, and keeping all of Lana's pets from wrecking her preparations.
As for Lincoln, he was just sitting in his room reading his comics (this time with his clothes on since there were people coming). However, before the rest of the Loud family was about to leave, Lincoln had a knock on his door and went to answer it. It was Lisa, the family genius, and she looked like she was very stressed about something. "Hey Lincoln, I need you to do something for me."
"What is it, Lisa?" Lincoln asked. "LISA, COME ON!" They both heard Lynn call out from downstairs. Lisa was in a bit of a hurry to go, but this was too important for her to leave just yet.
"Lincoln there's a small invention in my lab that I was working on and I haven't had time to check on it to make sure it's shut off. I need you to check on it as soon as you can." Lisa explained. "LISA!!" They heard Lynn again as she was growing impatient. "Look elder brother, just make sure my invention is turned off soon or it could be disastrous!" Lisa warned Lincoln as Lynn came up to pull her downstairs.
Lincoln just stood there cautiously as Lisa sounded pretty worried when she told him about her invention. And the Loud boy knows that Lisa's inventions usually end with disastrous results. He felt like he should go check on her invention until he saw Lola come out of her room.
Lola suddenly turned towards Lincoln in surprise as she was sure she'd be alone tonight. "Lincoln?! What are you still doing here? I thought everyone was going out." Lola asked in shock.
"Not everybody, Lola. Mom asked me to stay behind and look after you guys during your slumber party." Lincoln answered, much to Lola's disapproval.
"What?!" Lola said angrily, causing Lincoln to flinch. "Oh no, Lincoln. You are not going to ruin my slumber party. It was supposed to just be me and my friends!" Lola said in a huff.
"I didn't want to at first, Lola. But Mom told me to do it. I'm not going to ruin your party, Lola, I'm just here to watch you guys and make sure everything's alright here. No worries, right?" Lincoln was hoping to ease the tension a little bit but it didn't help.
Lola was still mad as she just wanted it to be her and all of her friends and was afraid that he would wreck her party and embarrass her. But then Lola decided to calm down and make sure that everything would go well anyway. "Fine, Lincoln. You can stay. But under one condition." Lola said, as Lincoln nodded to show that he understood her.
"This is my slumber party, got it?!" Lola said grabbing Lincoln by his shirt collar. "You do what I say and you don't do anything to embarrass me." Lincoln nodded in agreement. "And if me or my friends need anything, you will get it for us." Lincoln accepted. "And if you do anything to mess up my party or embarrass me in front of them, you're going to get it. Got it?!" Lola threatened much to Lincoln's shear terror.
"Yes. I understand, Lola. I'll do whatever you say. I promise." Lincoln fearfully submitted as Lola released him from her grip and walked downstairs to wait for her guests. Lincoln sighed in relief as he thought it was over. But then he realized that he still had to check on Lisa's invention like she asked.
Lincoln knew he should listen to Lola, unless he wanted to face her pink wrath. But he also had to check on Lisa's invention to make sure it doesn't cause any harm.
What should Lincoln do? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
