"Very good everyone, next time we will be working on adding the correct amount of magic to seals and runes" Robin smiles as the bell rings signifying the end of class
"Hey you have dark magic next right?" Nora asks, surprising the boy "I have limited mage sight, just certain magical auras such as those with a dark core, a necros core like the magizoology professor and demonic core like that 3rd year Rachel Roth. So I know you have a more dark than light core, but does that mean you signed up for Dark Magic?"
Ren blushes and looks away, he didn't really like admitting he had a dark aligned core, even though he knew it didn't mean Evil, there was still a lot of stigma about it and neither he nor Tali wanted to invite morons to say things, they said enough about the 'spider freak' with the human child "Yes" he mumbles, shocked when he gets picked up by a now grinning ravenette
"Awesome, I was worried about not knowing anyone in class and now I have you" she hugs him to her cheek, then turns to the other 2 "What about you guys?"
"I have light magic now, dark on Thursdays" the red head answers, Morgan nodding along with her, not wanting to admit his core couldn't produce Dark magic itself, especially given how strong that aspect of the giantess' magic was she clearly took pride in it.
Nora pouts "Oh, well I guess I'll see you at lunch then"
"Most likely"
"Sure"
"Great" Nora then places Ren on her shoulder and makes her way down the stairs, Artemis offering her hat for Morgan to ride and goes up one floor
Getting to the class the giants obviously catch her attention sooner than the littles, mostly the nervous looking brunette who was practically leaking magic, the fidgety and giddy Asian chick and the bored looking blond with metallic silver tips. The kind of gaunt looking boy with neon blue eyes did catch her attention, but it was smothered by the familiarity of the black cloud which formed on the desk 'Damn it'
"Hello first years, Nora doll" the man greets with a mad grin
"Daddy" Nora whines, getting sniggers from a few of her classmates, or worse, sympathetic looks.
"Sorry. Welcome to Dark Magic. Now I know the art has a bad wrap, mostly because it's used as an umbrella term for all the arts the general non-magical public deem as bad, like demonology, necromancy and blood magic, all of which are upper year subjects by the way. Dark magic has always been more destructive than Light, as it often uses more negative emotions to bring forth when learning to harness it. But that doesn't mean it can't be used for good, Dark Fire can cauterize wounds more naturally as they always leave scars, a curse to drain life-force can be used to heal yourself or an injured friend" he then frowns "And let's not pretend light magic is some passive little nancy art, ever seen a holy lance spell? Holy energy condensed into a solid weapon, part melee weapon, part bomb. Light and Dark Magic are 2 sides of the same coin, it's the intent of the user that determines whether the magic used is good or bad" Professor Darhk explains, Ren nodding along with him.
The rest of the class was technically a theory class as there wasn't much actually happening, but he had them trying to draw out their magic without channeling it into an actual spell, as dark magic works better when free and loose, demonstrating when waves of black and red energy flow lazily from his fingertips. Drizella was the worst as she was too tense, her magic forming fireballs when it should still be unformed and almost inert, while Ruby was able to make little puffs of silver/white smoke leave her palm.
Now what?
1) Next class Nora and Ren have together again
2) They meet back up with Morgan and Artemis
3) They all meet up for lunch
