Chapter #8Young Goddess by: oyvey1   What is the universe, if not an extremely complex batch of code, all carefully written to ensure that reality continues humming along as intended. But for there to be code, there needs to be a place for it to be written. That place is called the Book of Reality.
But like any code, it is sometimes prone to glitches. Small hiccups that would otherwise go unnoticed…until it was.
This book was never intended to fall into mortal hands, lest reality itself fall into chaos. However, on this day, a glitch in the universe’s code caused the Book of Reality to suddenly appear in a large patch of wildflowers, where a young mortal was innocently playing with her pet. She looked over and saw the book, eyes wide with wonder at the ancient-looking tome. As any young mortal would, she went over to satiate her innate sense of curiosity.
“Look Cheese, what a strange book!”
“Chao chao…”
“I wonder who would leave something like this outside where it could be ruined by rain!” Cream the Rabbit, a 6-year old Mobian girl with the sweetest and gentlest heart one could ever imagine, picked up the book and held it protectively against her chest for a moment. “Maybe whoever this belongs to is still around! Let’s go find them Cheese!”
“Chao!”
Such an innocent creature this Cream, still wholly unaware of the limitless power she held in her hands. The tome she carried went beyond the famed Chaos Emeralds of her world, and yet she hadn’t realized it. But that would not be the case for long.
“This book is really heavy!” Cream huffed and took a moment to gently place the book on a nearby rock that looked relatively clean. “I wonder what it’s about, it doesn’t say anything on it, not like the books Mommy reads to us.” Without even hesitating, Cream opened the book, and an ancient looking black pen fell out from inside the front cover, falling at the young girl's feet. "Oh, is that a pen?"
The very instant Cream picked up the pen, the book emanated a blinding light, one so powerful that Cream and Cheese both gasped in shock as they were forced to shield their eyes. The girl squinted as the light began to fade, but not before she was able to read the words that briefly appeared on the first page. "Book of Reality?"  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
