The humming of the store music drifts down and makes its way into the package thats my cage, the distant creaking wheels of shopping carts in faraway aisles blending in now and then with the upbeat tones. I yawn as I sit up, taking a look out the plastic window. "Lets see, its been ten days now?". Memories quickly and exit my mind of hearing of the virus sweeping the globe, shrinking down men at a eighty percentile to various heights. At first there was shock and chaos as countries, communities and families tried to cope with the upending of society. Quickly though, we were soon rounded up to be studied and possibly find a cure or at least a vaccine. A year went by but to dismay of everyone, especially the shrunken men, research was abandoned and commerce swooped in to profit as were soon found to viewed as something less as human and more as another species. Some men went into hiding that wasn't rounded up with the help of family and friends, others experimented on like frogs in biology class, and a lot of us were bought by big corporations to be sold as objects, to be used for what ever your fancy. I wish I could say I was one of the lucky ones to live my life out in hiding for a little bit before being found but at first chance, my wife of six years sold me for the advertised 50 euros, saying she was thinking about asking for a divorce anyway before the whole ordeal, making money of me was just an benefit. So here I am, looking out my window as the store slowly comes to life.
