My name is Frank Vance. I am fifteen years old. I have short brown hair and brown eyes. I like to think I am in excellent shape; I body build and have a black belt in two forms of martial arts. My parents are paranormal investigators by hobby but work as private investigators by trade. We had just finished moving in to our home here in Waterfront City and, with summer vacation just starting, I was free to explore my new stomping grounds.
"Exercise caution, Frank." Serious, dad said. "This city seems slow to welcome newcomers."
"It's nothing we haven't dealt with before." Calmly, mom added. "Just don't expect to make friends right away."
"I got all summer to get to know them." Confident, I replied. "Slow and steady solves the case."
Mom and dad smiled at that; it was the motto of their investigation company. With that, I set out to learn what this small city had in store for me. Right off the bat, the city seemed strange as there were old buildings shouldering new ones and everyone who caught my eye threw me a guarded glance. It wasn't an unwelcoming look but one of caution; it occurred to me that they may have seen more than their share of trouble.Upon reaching the downtown hub, I looked about and found a mall in the near distance to the east and a park near by to the west and a malt shop a few feet ahead.
"Where to first...?" Softly, I muttered to myself. "I'm sure no matter where I go to explore, I won't get a stellar welcome."
"You are a new face, young man." Startling me, a voice said. "Are you with the family that just moved in on Ross Street?"
