I turned to find a tall, young looking woman holding a red and white striped cane. She was elegantly dressed with shoulder length 'salt and pepper' hair. Her eyes were hidden behind dark sunglasses; I wondered how she could have seen anything obviously being blind.
"Hey, Miss D." Smiling, Ted said. "Out for a root beer float?"
"Not today, young man." With a bemused grin, Miss D replied. "Just catching the latest gossip as I sip on some tea and cakes."
"Miss Dalrymple is the eldest resident of Waterfront City." Kindly, Liv explained. "She has excellent hearing, no whisper escapes her notice. She is also full of surprises."
"I didn't reach my age by being meek." Smiling, Miss D said. "I heard you talking to Miss Le Vance and her friends, I heard the hits you to delivered to Bruiser and I heard you talking to the police."
"I have learned to handle myself in a scuffle." Confident, I said. "I haven't yet meet anyone I can't take on."
"You might have been the big fish in the pond you came from but now you are in deeper waters." Cryptically, Miss D warned. "Do not advertise your presence; I can assure you that many already know you are here and are watching."
With that, Miss D walked out of the malt shop. curious, I followed her only to find her gone the second I stepped out. I looked left, right and forward but there was no sign of her. "Curious..." Stepping back, I muttered.
Liv giggled. "Miss D is a mysterious one, Frank." Kindly, she said.
