Inside the cardboard box was another, smaller box. This one looked like a ring box. When you took it out of the larger box and opened it, you discovered that, in fact, it was a ring box and it even contained a ring.
You looked at the plain silver ring for a second before taking it out of ring box which you set aside. Looking closely, you could see that there was something engraved on the inside of the ring. You had to squint and hold the ring at the correct angle to catch the light right so that you could read it. The inscription read "Ring of Wishes".
You chuckled at that. Obviously someone was having a laugh at your expense. You considered tossing the whole lot in the trash but then you figured there was no reason not to put the ring on; after all, it did look like it would fit on your finger. What was the worst that could happen? It would turn your finger green because it was made out of cheap metal?
You slid the ring onto the ring finger of your right hand and looked at it. It honestly didn't look too bad. Maybe if it did turn out to be a cheap ring, you could find a real silver one of a similar size to wear.
"Too bad magic rings that grant wishes aren't real." you said quietly to yourself. After all, who couldn't use a little magic in their life?
