From a hiding spot a block over, Atom the enormous bulldog cowered. That cat would’ve made one hell of a meal, as fat as it was, but that rodent was impossibly huge. He was watching the rat as it slowly walked off, huge footsteps shaking everything for blocks in every direction and Atom wondered if he might be able to get his revenge on that cat soon. Atom was distracted for a moment by something tapping him on one of his paws. He looked way down, expecting a human or a car, but was pleasantly surprised to see that his friend, the yellow canary, had returned. Atom was happy that the little guy looked so much bigger and healthier these days.
“So,” the canary began, once he had his dog friend’s attention, “do you see what that rat left out there in the street?”
Atom looked and spotted that little bottle that had been the cause of all of this craziness.
The canary was scheming. “If we work together, we can both be winners today. I say we sneak out there and grab it before the cat notices what’s going on. Then WE can be the big ones. Even too big for that giant rat to mess with.”
Atom thought that was a wonderful idea.
“Since you’re bigger,” the canary began, “I’ll sneak out there and get it before I come running back your way. That way you can deal with that darn cat if he causes us any trouble. Then we grow and they won’t be a problem anymore.”
Atom nodded vigorously.
The canary crept out towards the bottle, being as sneaky as possible for an animal that was as big as a grizzly, but the cat didn’t seem to notice. He was to busy rubbing his enormous belly and watching the giant rat stomp away, playing with the small buildings as it went. The canary’s luck ran out though, right as it grabbed the bottle. The cat happened to look down and spotted the big, yellow bird and those sharp teeth glistened as he opened his mouth wide and drooled.
The canary took off running for safety, bottle in hand, with the cat rushing right after.
