"John, don't you recognize me?" the female rabbit asked.
John blinked. "How do you know my name?"
The rabbit walked up to him. "We spent what was my last day under the tree, just before Millie ate me. You kissed me before she started, and then just before she gave the final swallow."
John gulped. "What was your name?"
The rabbit smiled. "Savanah 4821." She then hugged, and kissed him.
"This is rather odd," said Robert, as the other rabbits stood up, and gave their past names and numbers. "Um, no hard feelings about..."
"None at all," said Savanah, as she came over to him, and gave him a hug. "You were good to us."
"Um, what was it like?" John asked.
"Dying? Eh, took care of my last few needs before I passed out," said Savanah. "Made sure that Millie god a good rubbing."
John chuckled nervously. "Figured that part out. Um, I meant what was the Afterlife like?"
"Well, the first place was like this," said Savanah. "I met my mother, father, older siblings, cousins, a bunch of other relations, to say nothing about everyone else." She looked at Robert. "The First Wolfe is quite pleased at what all you've done, given that he's been listening to the stories we've been telling him about you. Oh, and being eaten by him, such a thrill!"
"You get eaten in the Afterlife?" John asked.
Savanah nodded. "I'm Prime Grade! Well, all of us are, but given what I was - amazing! Of course, given that we're already dead, death is nothing for use to worry about. After we get eaten, we get a new body."
"What else is it like?" John asked.
"No fences," said Savanah. "We get to go where we want to go."
John looked out at the fences - triple layer - innermost and outermost were safe to grab, or touch, in case of accidents, but the middle layer was electrified - climbing in, or out, was met with a non-fatal shock.
"Might have to get used to those again," he said. "I mean, human-sized talking rabbits, not exactly normal." He then looked at Robert. "Something tells me that you ought to do some checking. I mean, how many farmers bought those pills? How many of them used them? How many has crops like you had? How many got eaten by rabbits? How many of those rabbits ended up like ours? How many Past Livestock got reformed? Also, and this is the big one - How many of those Rabbit-fied Past Livestock had good enough relationships with Prior Owners to not try to kill them?"
"What do you mean?" Robert asked.
"For all I know, every Human Farmer that used those pills is facing a rabbit-infestation, and those rabbits are all Past Livestock in a new body, and if the farmer was of the cruel sort, said rabbits might just be using this as a means for Revenge," said John. "Not that I blame them, and I'd even join in if I felt in to be worth it, but while I might have said a few things, and thought about doing it, I've never had a good enough reason to actually do it."
Robert looked, and took a swift count of the Past Livestock in Rabbit-like bodies. There was over a hundred of them. "That is a scary thought." He looked at James. "We'd best do some quiet calling around." He looked at John. "Find a place for them. I'm sure that their friends and family members would like to see them again."
John nodded. "Yes Master."
