Ever since she was a little kid, Emma Bell had been made fun of for her weight. Barely a school day had gone by without someone mooing at her in the hallway and she often heard snickers every time she passed by the popular girls. Things had gotten even worse since her 15-year-old sister Nicole, who had barely tolerated her before, had become a cheerleader. Now Emma’s homelife was hell as well with Nicole doing mean things to Emma every time their parents’ backs were turned (not that her parents ever believed that perfect little Nicole could do anything wrong).
Emma was tired of all the teasing and nothing she tried could stop it. That’s why when she heard about the Little Shop of Revenge, she immediately pooled together all her savings in hopes that she’d finally be able to get some payback on her tormentors.
At first glance, the inside of the shop was as unassuming as the outside. Two rows of glass cases ran down either side of the room with one showing off an array of jewelry while the other contained books and scrolls. If one didn't know better, you might mistake the place for a pawn shop or antique store. Only the cauldrons behind the counter with mysterious liquids inside seemed like they wouldn't be found in a normal store. Otherwise, it was all so ordinary that Emma wasn't sure she was in the right place at first.
"Looking for some payback?" a perky voice called out as Emma looked around at the store's wares. A salesgirl had stepped out from the back room. She was young looking, seeming to be in her mid-twenties, with short dark hair and a grinning face. She seemed to be about as tall as Emma and about as heavy as her as well. "Hi, I'm Hailey," said the woman. "Let me guess? People are making fun of your body?"
"You don't know the half of it," sighed Emma as she launched into a well-rehearsed story about how cruel her sister and the cheerleading team had been to her over the years. Hailey listened intently. If she was bored at all, Emma couldn't tell. "Wow, it certainly seems like you're in need of some revenge," the salesgirl said when Emma had finally finished. "Luckily, we have a few things in stock that should be able to help you with that. Might I interest you in..."
