Mystery

- Kyle's POV moments earlier-

The bright light caused Kyle to let out a whimper as he maneuvered his hands to cover his eyes. After a moment of silence, the boy felt compelled to see the results of his mischief.

"(5 4 3 2....)" he counted to himself internally.

"(1!!!)"

Kyle burst from the pillows, preparing to jump off the bed and run for the door while laughing. He stopped short however, after he noticed that his older brother was no longer standing where he had been.

The wide-eyed, gleeful expression on Kyle's face slowly turned to one of puzzlement.

The boy looked suspiciously around the room as he began to wonder if his brother was about to jump out of nowhere and strangle him. That was when he noticed that it wasn't just his brother that was missing, but the 'robot' on the desk was gone too.

Feeling like he should investigate, the boy hesitantly dangled feet over the side of the bed and plopped down onto the floor below. After taking a few steps toward the desk, he came to a stop when he noticed that there was something tiny sitting atop the desk where the 'robot' had been. He leaned over and grabbed it.

"W-woah... the robot... it got super tiny!!" Kyle gasped in awe as he examined the now candy-sized object.

Still suspicious about his brother's whereabouts, he decided to call out your name

"B-brandon, are you in here???"

He looked around the room waiting for a response. The door was still closed. There was no way that his brother had the time to leave the room during the moment that he wasn't looking.

"hmm" Kyle pondered to himself quizzically as he crossed his arms in thought.

Driven by curiosity, Kyle walked over to the bed and got on all fours. He slowly lifted up the hanging bed sheets to see if his brother was hiding under the bed.

"....Where the heck did he go...?" Kyle muttered as he scanned the empty area under the mattress.

"This is so weird...." The boy muttered as he lifted himself back up to his feet. As he stood there contemplating what happened to you, something suddenly caught his attention.

Out of the corner of his eye, the nine year old saw a small movement on the floor nearby.

Kyle looked downward, allowing his eyes lock on to what appeared to be a small insect scurrying towards him from the direction of the desk.

Known to be easily distracted, the 'bug' immediately captured the grade schooler's undivided attention.

The boy turned himself towards the approaching insect and watched with curiosity as the 'ant' crawled right in front of him. It was a scene he had witnessed many times before: an ant mindlessly crawling around on the floor without a care in the world.

Kyle reacted just as any boy his age would react upon seeing such a thing. With a blank, indifferent stare, he began to lift his foot over the tiny pest.

You have the following choices:

2. Saved from Certain Death

3. Can’t escape in time
