Errands to run

As always, the sound of rushing water woke you - the tap was being used, causing the water to rush through the pipes in your apartment at a blinding speed. The accompanying footsteps nearby told you that the inhabitant of the apartment was getting ready to start their day.

Once the rushing water had died down, you went and got yourself some water, washed yourself as best you could, and cleaned your teeth using your finger. You were running low on toothpaste, so you cleaned out the cap you used to contain it and put it in your pack. Another thing for the list. You still hadn't figured out a way to get hold of shampoo; showers were generally too risky, but you supposed you could recon some other bathrooms today, see if you got lucky. So you just ran the water through your hair with a sliver of soap you'd stolen, but it wasn't a great solution. Your light brown hair was dirty and matted.

After a little more jerky for breakfast, it was time to go. You had a few things to get - you needed more food, the toothpaste, and some climbing materials. And then maybe the shampoo, if you were still up for it.

The watch face on the wall told you it was just gone 9am. Most of the inhabitants had left the building, into the terrifying giant world below, for work. That meant it was time for you to do the same, in a manner of speaking.

Sighing wearily, you scratched your long nose, put on your pack and headed through the cloth you used as a door. Curtain. Whatever. It - and your bed - were getting a bit dirty, to be honest. Something else for the list...if there was time.

You were on the 6th floor, or just beneath it. You headed to...
