Johnathan 2809 watched as the police chief, the representative from the robotics company, and a lower-ranked officer were in an office, the door closed. He, he used he to identify himself, could hear the yelling, yet make none of it out clearly.
"So, you're our new sniffer agent," said another officer. "How good are you?"
"What do you wish to know?" Johnathan asked.
"What can you do that a human officer can't?" the officer asked.
"What can you do that a human officer can't?" Johnathan said, repeating the officer's own words and voice. "Voice recording and playback. Particle annalist tells me that you're wearing a cologne called Black Horse Thunder, and that you had shrimp, beef, parmesan cheese, and broccoli within the last two hours, with a berry flavored soft drink - Applebee's house specialty."
The officer looked at their partner. "Pretty good analysis."
"Thank you," said Johnathan. They looked at the door. "Is there an issue in regards to Officer Smith? They seem to be very vocal, and the tone seems to be that they are not pleased to have me as a partner."
"You'll have to forgive them," the officer said. "They were in a car wreck a few years back - theirs and another fell off of a cliff due to a rockslide, into a deep part of the lake. Driver of the other car was killed instantly, but the passenger, a child, was still alive. As for Officer Smith, they had a crushed arm and leg. Both cars were sinking fast. A nearby android, a wolf model ironically enough, saw what had happened, and went into rescue mood. It dove into the water, swam to the cars. Then, it made a choice. Officer Smith claims that it made the wrong choice."
"Officer Smith must of had better odds of survival," said Johnathan.
"63% chance, compared to 13% chance for the child," the officer said. "Smith tried to demand that the robot save the child, but at that moment, the water rushed in, silencing their words, as well as filling the other car. Smith wears a bracelet that the kid had - swears that a human would have made the right choice, to save the kid. Their arm and leg were also replaced."
"Sounds like Survivor's Guilt," said Johnathan. "Guess I'll need to read their file."
"Are you going to use the computer to do that?" the officer asked.
"Possible," said Johnathan. "Of course, I could just access their file personally, but using another computer with the right protections might be safer."
"Smart idea," said the officer. They looked at their partner. "Well, best get going." They looked at Johnathan. "Good luck. You'll need it." They left.
Another half an hour later, the door to the office opened, and Johnathan was allowed to come in. They got a good look at their partner.
