"Johnathan, meet your partner, Wilma Smith." Said the chief, indicating the officer sitting across from their desk with a look of disdain on their face. Officer Smith was a woman with light brown skin and dark hair, with a slender, athletic build.
"Pleased to meet you." Said Jonathan in a friendly tone, extending his hand, but Officer Smith didn't budge. "With all due respect, I don't see why I have to be the one to get saddled with the newbie on the team, chief. Especially when you know how I feel about anidroids." Smith said.
"You just answered your own question, Sergeant." The chief replied "You're one of the best on the force, and on a personal note, I'm hoping that by partnering you with Jonathan, you'll get over your preconceived notions."
With a defeated sigh, Officer Smith stood and left the office. "I hope she didn't offend you." The chief said, and Jonathan shook his head. "Not at all. We anidroids are incapable of feeling offence."
The chief chuckled "Oh yeah, sometimes I forget underneath the fur you lot are all hardware. Anyway, Smith is probably going to let off some steam at the firing range. Why don't you head down there and see if you can connect?"
"Of course, chief "
A few minutes later, Officer Smith was practicing her aim when Jonathan stepped up beside her. "Excuse me, Ms. Smith..."
"It's Officer Smith to you, Tin-Man."
"Very well. Officer Smith, I hope that my assignment as your partner doesn't cause you any serious emotional distress."
""You're a machine. What would you know about emotions?"
"Nothing personally, of course. But I am equipped with advanced psychological data and techniques, and I heard about your car accident and the poor young girl. From my understanding, any human who went through such an experience might harbor the same grudge."
"Whatever. Hey, you got any shooting skills in that hardrive or processor or whatever it is you have?"
"I've never actually used a firearm. However, I do have a state of the art targeting system, as well as files on human anatomy."
"Let's see how good you are then, rookie." Smith stepped aside and Jonathan picked up a pistol and took aim. Emptying the entire clip, the target showed multiple bullet holes all in the head area in the shape of a smiley face. "Showoff." Said Smith, holstering her weapon.
