Chapter #4Looking into the book further by: Morphology   "Umm..." Josh hesitated a bit before continuing. "On second thought, how about we look through the book a little more. I trust you and everything, but something deep inside of me is telling me that something will go wrong." He reached towards the back of his neck to scratch an itch that seemed to appear out of nowhere. Looking back over at Jenn, Josh was afraid of what she could do with the power that was now in her hands.
Strangely enough, she didn't seem too mad about it all. "I understand." Jenn replied with a closing of the book and an eerie smile that caused a shiver to go down his spine. "As I was looking through the book, a couple other things seemed to pop out to me." Grabbing the book, Jenn started to get up.
"What are you doing?" He asked, clearly confused about what was going on. Since he had the keys in his pocket, Josh knew that Jenn didn't have a way to get home without calling somebody to come and get her.
Putting her book in her bag, Jenn looked over at him. "Do you want to see what else this book can do?" She asked as Josh looked up at her with a look of confusion, almost as if hoping that she would tell him. However, knowing what he was wanting, Jenn gestured towards the exit. "If you want to know more, grab your stuff and I will explain in the car."
Nodding his head, Josh did as she asked and quickly packed up his stuff and followed her out to the car. As they grew nearer to the car, Josh turned back towards Jenn. "So what else did you find in that book?" He asked as he unlocked the car. Opening the door, Jenn quickly got inside before answering. Putting the bag with the book in between her legs, she turned to Josh, who had gotten into the driver's seat. As he buckled in, Josh turned to meet her gaze. "What did you find in the book?" He asked again, trying to get the information out of her once more.
Knowing that she'd strung him along this far, Jenn smiled. "Well, I found several different things that sound interesting." Holding up her hand, the lifted her index finger. "The first one is a spell that puts an enchantment on a pair of items. Let's say its a pair of rings for this case, one ring controls how the other person looks."
"Wait a minute." Josh interrupted, holding up his hands to stop her. "So, will I were to wear one of these rings, would I be able to change you too?" He asked wondering how it would work, exactly.
Shaking her head, Jenn looked back at him. "No, think of it like one ring is like a remote and the other is a television. The remote can change what is on the television, but the television can't change the remote." She explained as she held up her second finger and continued. "The second allows me to make a potion that changes your body based on the clothes that you either touch or put on. But from what I read it can be unstable with the time limits." Jenn saw Josh's inquisitive look and clarified further. "According to the book, the less experience a mage has, the less time the potion will work. However, the more practice I get with the enchantment, the more likely the potion will last longer. And lastly." She stated as she held up her third and final finger. "Lastly, it seems that I've found an incantation that would allow us to enter our favorite book and live out the story for ourselves."
"So, we will be able to live out the story?" Josh asked as he heard Jenn's phone going off with the ring tone of her favorite anime 'Magical Girls unite' playing.
Without missing a beat, Jenn grabbed her phone. "Oh, its Em." She replied accepting the phone call. "Hey Em, whats up?" She spoke into the phone. "Oh, that's horrible... Uh huh... Sure, if thats what you want... Actually, Josh and I found something interesting that we were wanting to try out... Sure, we will make our way over there. Bye."
"What did Emily want?" Josh asked as he started up the car.
Putting the phone back into her bag, Jenn sighed. "It looks like she and Will had another fight which resulted in them breaking up. So she was wondering I wanted to come over so that she could talk." She continued. "Just don't bring up Will when we go over there, she seems a little broken up about it right now."
Looking at the clock display on his dash board, Josh nodded. "We can head over there if you want, I will send my Mom a text to let her know whats going on when we get there."
