After grabbing Cyndaquil, he was given a pokédex and told to meet Mr. Pokémon at Cherrygrove City, then left.
It was a good things he was given his Cyndaquil early as he ran into a number of aggressive pokémon. On the way, he found a pokéflute and put it in his backpack.
He finally found his way to the house and was met by a man a little older than he expected. "Oh, you must be Kris! Prof. Elm told me you were coming." He then held out a pokémon egg. "A couple I know tha run a pokémon day-care said a Rhyhorn they were caring for dug it up. I was intrigued, so I thought Professor Elm would like to have a look at it." Kris agreed to take it back to Elm.
Shortly after leaving, he got a call from Elm who was frantic about a robbery. Worried, he began sprinting back home and wound up colliding with someone.
"Watch where you're going, you-!" The two got up and saw each other. "You! I saw you take a pokémon from Elm's Lab, give it to me!"
Ethan pulled out his pokéball. "Fine!" He said, definitely. Then sent out Cyndaquil. He noticed the guy's wallet just under Cyndaquil and saw his name was 'Silver' before a stream of water forced Cyndaquil to move and he took it back.
