The Grandface family had three daughters. Michelle, the youngest at six years old, was in first grade. Despite the difficult circumstances during the pandemic, she was the sunshine of the family. Even though her only experience of kindergarten was through video calls and homeschooling, she had always been one of the most diligent students. She had no trouble adapting to the new conditions of in-person learning once first grade began.
For the middle daughter, Sarah, who was ten years old, things were more difficult. She had just started second grade when the pandemic broke out and in-person classes were no longer possible. She initially had a hard time adjusting to learning from home. Now, as she returned to the school building in fourth grade, it wasn't exactly easy for her either.
The oldest daughter, Chelsea, had actually enjoyed learning from home when she was twelve. At first, it suited her quite well—even if her grades didn’t improve. But now,at fourteen, with the transition to high school and the simultaneous return to in-person instruction, she was struggling immensely and could no longer keep up at all.
