Perhaps instead of focusing on an individual she could drop an object of power into a world. A cursed creation with an aura that compels people to use it.

A plush monkey paw, soft and unassuming. Even the most good intentioned wish would be corrupted. With three uncurled fingers, the plush would disappear to find a new owner after each wish, then it will vanish for good when all three have been made.

The magic mirror. This cursed relic is capable of showing anything from thoughts to far away land or even reflections of the users delusions. The mirror feeds off insecurity and continued use will cause the user to become a black hole of envy and paranoia. It's lead many down the road of occultism and black magic.
