In Viridian City, close to the wreckage that was once the Pokémon Centre, stood the Viridian City Inn, where Misty walked the hallway. In her hand was a bag containing an apology in the form of a ham sandwich. She stood in front of room 17, now occupied by one Ash Ketchum, and knocked.
It didn't take long before he answered the door in his pyjamas, confusion clear on his face.
"I'm sorry about yesterday. I was angry about you destroying my bike and, I didn't think about your Pikachu. Please accept this."
That was the plan, anyway. But as soon as she saw his face, the anger bubbled up and shoved the bag at him.
"Don't think this means anything! All it is, is an apology for last night!" She stormed back to her room, where her Pokémon (currently consisting of Goldeen, Staryu, and Starmie) were relaxing in the bath.
She collapsed next to the bath, wondering what exactly it was about him that infuriated her so much.
"Goldeen."
She then noticed how worried her water types were, appreciating them even more. Her mind began wondering back to her sisters, thinking about how they'd react to her letting a day-one Trainer steal her bike.
I have to become stronger. I can't return like this.
"Hiya!" Staryu alerted her to the sink which had been running hot water since before she left.
In it was the Poké Flute she fished up the day before, minutes before fishing up Ash. She left the water running to clean off whatever was clinging to it. She did find it in a river, afterall.
Running cold water to cool it, it didn't bad. It probably wasn't in the water more than a day. Playing a couple of notes on it, it sounded perfect. Maybe she could learn to play it better.
