Second thoughts

"But... but you said we could enter! That is MY faelan! What are you going to do with it?"

The shadowy figure had already made the necessary arcane arrangements to prevent the faelan's escape. It may have looked like a mere exotic brute, but it was definitely one of the enemy's more dangerous minions. The shadowy figure would not be surprised if this particular faelan was one of the chief lieutenants of the forces aligned against the city and its allies.

The guards were about to escort the girl away when the shadowy figure raised a hand. "Wait. The girl is innocent of wrongdoing, yet I would not be surprised if she does not unknowingly possess information that is vital to the defense of the city. Take her along as well, but be sure to keep her well apart from the faelan."

The girl was not sure what was going on, but the pronouncements of her fate by the shadowy figure didn't sound good at all. As the guards approached her, she...
