The capital city was huge! And very, very busy! The country of Al'mba was situated in the desert, so naturally the sun was pretty much unnavoidable, unless you went into your house, or stayed in the shadow of a building.
You were considerably luckier than the majority of citizens. You stayed in the coolness of the palace, but you were in service to the Sultan. He treated you alright, but otherwise he was quite selfish, and not benevolent at all! For one thing, he kept taxes high! Yet that was nothing compared to the cruelty he inflicted on anyone who broke his strict laws! Sometimes he couldn't be bothered to punish lawbreakers himself, so he got you to punish lawbreakers yourself. You didn't like doing it, though!
But you didn't trouble yourself worrying about others, as you had enough trouble making sure you did what you were supposed to. You just kept your head down and made sure you stayed on the Sultan's good side.
One day you caught someone in the palace, trying to cool off from the unrelenting heat. From his dress, you'd say he was homeless. Considering this, you wonder whether you should bother the king.
