Who Will You Travel With?

    by: Aiken4LOTR Author IconMail Icon

You have decided to trade one of your elven cloaks for one of the dwarf's swords. It is heavier than what you are used to, but it is brilliantly made, and strong, perfectly fit for any battle. You thank him as he packs up and continues on his path.
You had planned on going on your own, for you feel you work better alone, but a man runs up behind you and kindly places his hand upon your shoulder. You turn around to see who has confronted you, and it turns out to be none other than Aragorn, the man who overcame the corruption of the One Ring those many years ago.
"I thank you for your willingness to search for help to defeat this new evil." He begins to say, "My name is Aragorn, and..."
"I believe it is you who deserves thanks. For your service those many years ago." You reply, "If it wasn't for you and the other companions of the Fellowship, then middle earth would not be as we know it now."
"Well then, now it is your time to make a difference for the people of middle earth. It would be better if you didn't travel alone," Aragorn insisted.
"You don't understand, I can do this alone," you persist.
"Please. Say no more, come with me." Aragorn said as he led you back to where the council had been...

As Aragorn lead you back into the council room, you saw that Elrond was not present at the moment. Aragorn continued to lead you, and brought you over to a seat. As he did this, you began to think about the past, and how close Sauron had come to gaining complete authority over Middle Earth.
You realize that this undefined evil could threaten all that is good, like Sauron had, but this evil unfighted could win. You had already made your mind up, now you just had to wait and see what Elrond was going to say. The room was filled with silence as Elrond walked back in and sat down.

"All of you who have already cowered down and decided not to help the fate of Middle Earth, please leave now, for I don't have the heart to speak to you, nor see you." Elrond ordered. When the last word departed from his lips, not a soul moved. You were surprised, yet pleased to see that everyone was willing to help.
"I had no doubt that many of you would help, but this many is beyond belief. Certainly this is a miracle." Elrond continued, "We have little or worthless knowledge of what exactly this undefined evil is hoping to achieve. It will take more than brute strength, fighting skills, and clever manuevering with a sword, bow, and an axe to win against this evil creature, although these will help. The only thing we can use now is our minds. We must figure out more before we make our first attack. All of you will travel in groups, you will go to distant lands to uncover more information. And from there, we will get back in touch when we think we've all had enough information revealed to us. Then our strategy for attack will commence."
Elrond paused for a moment as if he were deeply troubled. He then took a deep breath and continued.
"Form groups of nine now. Only one group already has been decided, the Fellowship of The Ring will travel together, as they once did many years ago. Boromir is no longer with us, so one of you will travel in his place. May his legacy help you travel faster and stronger. Also, I advise you all to bring weapons with you, for we do not know where this evil creature and his followers lurk."
After Elrond said this, you were grateful that you had traded your extra cloak for such a sturdy sword. When you glanced up from your sword, you saw Aragorn looked towards you, waiting for your decision. Were you to follow your own path, and make a group of your own? Or would you join Aragorn and the others in the Fellowship?

You have the following choices:

1. Take Boromir's place in the Fellowship

2. Form a group of your own
