In comparison with his suddenly enormous surroundings, Alan figured he was only about three or four inches tall.
The sidewalk resembles a huge plaza. Blades of grass form a jungle of towering plants three times his size.
"Cool!" Alan said. "The spell really worked."
He runs his hands all over his body. He still feels very much the same, as if only his surroundings have changed. He tingles with excitement.
Of course, he should have studied the reversal spell before shrinking himself.
No matter. He need only reach the book...
But when he walks up to one of the smooth legs supporting the park bench, he realizes getting back to the book is not going to be easy.
The bench towers some 40 feet over Alan's head.
Suddenly, he hears a grinding noise and sees two giants on skateboards coming along the sidewalk toward his bench. They brake their boards and the grating noise of the wheels against the concrete is almost deafening.
They dismount from the boards and walk toward the bench. Alan cowers behind one of the massive legs supporting the bench.
The two guys are so awesome and huge. They wear baggy clothes. Their shorts sway almost off their hips. Their huge sneakers dominate Alan's vision.
"Wow...look at this book!" Through the spaces in the bench, Alan watches one of the giants, a dude with spiky blond hair, pick up the book.
"It looks like it's some sort of magic book. This looks like a spell."
Alan is faced with a dilemma. Should he reveal himself to the giants and ask for their help? Or wait and hope they leave without carrying off his book?
