Trevor hesitated. Was she worth it? It wasn't like it was the first time Nikki had just run off without word, avoiding their issues instead of dealing with them. And he wasn't sure she would be alone. He shivered, more from the thought of finding her not alone than from the frigid rain soaking into his skin.
And what if there was another guy? It wasn't like Trevor had any idea what to do in a fight. He was an artist, not a boxer. She damn well wasn't worth messing up his hands and destroying his career!
Movement from behind caught his attention and he jerked around, catching glimpse of a tall, sturdy figure with dangerous-looking objects in each hand. His heart nearly stopped. Did she have bodyguards now? He knew her singing career was evolving, but she wasn't quite that famous yet.
Through the dark, it was hard to tell just how terrified he should be. With a deep breath, he decided to try his usual light-hearted jokes to ease what he hoped would work to his advantage.
Before he could speak, a voice from inside the building interrupted.
